Frictionless

Payments, Transactions and Supply Chain

From payments to supply chain, transaction banks are facing increasingly fierce competition from both traditional and nontraditional players. The corporate-bank relationship is being tested as customersmove away from the concentration of services in one institution, towards provider-agnostic solutions. Third-party platforms, treasury management solutions, and even a global financial messaging provider such as SWIFT are providing the connections and access channels to different institutions in creative and cost-effective ways.

Innovations are also underway in supply chain. The entry of new procurement-to-pay (Proc2P) and supply chain platforms, such as Alibaba and Ariba, into the corporate-to-corporate environment is having an impact. The power of such platforms is that they can manage the entire Proc2P and supply chain processes and are in a position to trigger financial transactions, such as payments, financing and risk mitigation. Furthermore these platforms avoid the onerous compliance burdens to manage risk and exposure with which the transaction banking industry has to contend.

The Future of Finance Summit, formerly known as The Asian Banker Summit, is the largest annual meeting for financial institutions in the Asia region. The Frictionless track provides a platform for the most senior practitioners in financial institutions, correspondent banking and transaction banking businesses to maintain a continuous and interactive relationship with regulators, potential clients and peers, as well as catch up with the latest developments whilst learning about new trends and identifying ways to progress their institutions to the next level.
