Visit to WeLend on online social lending in Hong Kong

  • WeLend is the first social lending platform based in Hong Kong. It holds a money lenders license in Hong Kong and currently only accepts loans from lenders in the company’s private network. It assesses potential borrowers based on their credit rating and other factors. In addition to its peer-to-peer lending platform, we will see how they build other online products that “democratize finance”.

  • Tencent is one of the largest and most used Internet service portals in China. WeChat, its famous instant messaging smartphone app with over 300 million users, has launched its own financial services offerings. Several Chinese banks have also launched banking services on WeChat. Participants will see how WeChat helps banks promote their services and products to customers and ensures security of transactions through its platform.

  • PAB is a Shenzhen-based commercial bank that provides comprehensive financial services to corporate and individual customers.
