David Millar

Risk management specialist, London, prior COO, the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA)

David Millar is an independent risk management trainer, journalist and consultant. As a process, training and risk management expert with 40 years experience in banking and financial markets, he provides public and in-house training on a variety of topics, as well as advisory services to banks, financial utilities and central authorities on strategy processes, change and risk management, research and outsourcing.

Until the end of 2010, he was Chief Operating Officer at the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association, PRMIA, a trade association focused on improving financial risk management through professional membership events, training and certifications. Before that, he worked in consultancies and banks. He now runs risk management training courses, consults for banks and vendors, and edits risk management newsletters and websites.

Andrew Carriline

Chief Risk Officer, Westpac Institutional Bank

Andrew leads the risk management team in Westpac's Institutional Bank and is responsible for managing all risk classes.  The Institutional Bank covers corporate and institutional banking, debt markets, FX and commodities, global transactional banking, treasury and some specialised asset management. Our Asian and Pacific Banking businesses also form part of the Institutional Bank.

Prior to commencing his current role in February 2009, Andrew spent the previous 18 months as Acting Chief Risk Officer for the Westpac Group.  Andrew has been with Westpac for 16 years.

Before his focus on pure risk roles, Andrew practised corporate law in the public and private sector and held a number of legal and operations roles in Westpac. He has been heavily involved in Westpac’s major M&A activities including the acquisition of Rothschild Asset Management, BT Financial Services, St George Bank and the sale of AGC.

Andrew holds Bachelor degrees in Law and Commerce and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company of Directors. He sits on the Leadership team of the Institutional Bank and is a Director of Westpac Bank -PNG-Limited.

Brian Cahill

Former Head, Scenario and Stress Testing, HSBC, Asia Pacific,
newly appointed Chief Analytics Officer (CAO), major Regional Bank, Singapore.

Brian Cahill has developed and built Enterprise Wide Stress Testing programs for Financial institutions both in Europe and latterly in Asia.  His experience is informed from working within a Treasury function observing the confluence of risks and the resulting impact of the outbreak of the Global Financial crisis in 2007.  He sees Enterprise Wide Stress Testing as the essential glue which can bind together stakeholders and risks across an organisation.
As the Head of Scenario and Stress Testing for HSBC he has developed a program designed to bring together experts from across the business and to effectively communicate outcomes to senior stakeholders and drive effective debate and decision making. Starting from January 2013, Brian will be taking up a new role as the Chief Analytics Officer of a major Asian bank continuing to work in the field of risk management, analytics and stress testing.

Donghyun Park
Principal Economist, Economics and Research Department, Asian Development Bank

Dr. Donghyun PARK is currently Principal Economist at the Economics and Research Department (ERD) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which he joined in April 2007. Prior to joining ADB, he was a tenured Associate Professor of Economics at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Dr. Park has a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA, and his main research fields are international finance, international trade, and development economics. His research, which has been published extensively in journals and books, focuses on policy-oriented topics relevant for Asia’s long-term development, including impact of population aging on Asia’s growth, Asian sovereign wealth funds, and Asian pension reform. Dr. Park plays a leading role in the production of Asian Development Outlook, ADB’s flagship annual publication.

Sungwoo Kim
Team Head of Bank Supervision Department
Financial Supervisory Service, Korea

Sungwoo Kim is a team head of BCBS Team at Bank Supervision Department in Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) in Korea. FSS is a single authority which is responsible for the regulation and supervision of the whole financial institutions in Korea. He has played major roles in the supervision and rule-making covering overall risk management areas in Korean banks from his career as an economist at Bank of Korea up to now. Recently his leadership leads to the successful implementation of Basel Ⅲ regulatory framework in Korea based on his professional knowledge and insight on risk management. During his career at FSS, he spent one and half year as a secondee of the FSS for Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Brian holds Bachelor degrees of Business Administration graduated summa cum laude in Korea University and Master degrees of financial engineering in the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology as well.

Jonghyun Kim
Associate Partner at AIS in IBM Korea

Jonghyun Kim is currently associate partner at AIS in IBM Korea, with over 15 years of experience in consulting. He has worked in a variety of industries including the Industrial, financial institutions, electronics, energy and public sectors.  His experience includes risk management (credit risk & operational risk), e-Business, IT outsourcing strategy; Mid and long term strategic planning, IT assessment, and customer relationship management. He has also managed multiple due diligence projects and handled project implementation.

Prior to rejoining to IBM, Kim worked with Ernst & Young as a partner, Booz Allen as a principal, and IBM Business Consulting Services as a managing consultant. Kim started his career at Samsung Data Systems.

Dr Chulwoo Han

Chulwoo Han is CEO and co-founder of CMPR, financial consultancy in Korea. He has been helping TriOptima's business development in South Korea since this year. He has extensive industry experience in financial engineering. His past work involves the modeling and analysis of a wide spectrum of financial instruments, and advanced analytics for portfolio risk management, asset allocation, and asset-liability management. He received his BS and MS from the College of Engineering at Seoul National University in 1999 and 2001, respectively, and PhD in financial engineering from the Graduate School of Management at KAIST in 2008. Prior to co-founding CMPR in 2003, he was with the Financial IT group at Samsung Life Insurance. He is a CFA charter holder and registered FRM.

Seana Chun
Senior Solutions Consultant, Capital Markets
SunGard Asia Pacific

Seana Chun is a Senior Solutions Consultant with the Capital Markets Group of SunGard Asia Pacific.  Based in Hong Kong, Seana specializes in Enterprise Risk Management for banking and financial services clients.  Seana works with clients to help implement Basel regulatory requirements as well as industry best practices in the areas of credit, market and operational risk.  Seana has helped leading Asian banks achieve supervisory approval for use of internal models to calculate capital requirements under the Basel II framework.

Seana has more than 15 years of international experience in the financial industry with stints in Asia, the U.S. and South America.  Ms. Chun joined SunGard in 2009 from Algorithmics (Hong Kong) where she worked for several years.  As a Principal in Algorithmics Credit Advisory Group, Seana managed client engagements at financial institutions on a wide range of Basel II and Risk Management projects throughout Asia.  Her previous roles include a Credit Officer / Product Manager at AIG’s eBusiness Risk Solutions Division, where she helped develop the industry’s first web-based real-time, automated credit limit system.  Seana also worked at both buy-side and sell-side firms--as a Global Equities Analyst at the New York-based investment bank, Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder and as a Credit Analyst in Corporate Banking at the Bank of New York Mellon, respectively.  Previously, Seana worked as a financial services consultant at the KPMG Peat Marwick offices in São Paulo, Brazil and New York City. 

Seana holds an M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University specializing in Finance and International Business.  She also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management and Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from Carnegie Mellon University graduating with highest honors.
