Deutsche Bank Lab – Evaluating emerging technologies from Silicon Valley
Deutsche Bank has opened a new innovation lab in Silicon Valley in April 2016. The goal is to evaluate emerging technologies to enhance its products, services and internal processes as well as to deepening the bank’s relationships with start-ups. We will get a general overview of the lab’s activities, how this lab fits into the wider ecosystem of the Valley and what has been already accomplished by the lab. Creative working space at Capital One 360 Café
The Cafe was originally opened by ING Direct and is designed to give a physical space and presence to what is otherwise an online-only bank. Capital One took over the 360 Café in 2012 and expanded it into an innovation lab for office space including private spaces, meeting areas, workspace for start-ups and a coffee bar. Bank employees named “digital lifestyle coaches” offer help to customers with their online banking services. We will hear from the company what good workspace design can do for the employees and what it can do for recruiting and bringing in good people.

Google’s new Launchpad Accelerator and its strategy on artificial intelligence
Google has recently founded it Launchpad Accelerator, a six months, all-expense-paid training at Google Headquarters supporting startups through mentorship and equity-free funding as well as access to Google engineers, resources, and mentors. By leveraging the company’s global reach and resources it helps startups to reach their true potential.
Besides learning about Google’s experiences with this program, we will also discuss how the company is using its vast access to data to work on artificial intelligence and what their plans are for the coming 10 years in this crucial field.
