Richard has more than 20 years of experience in the payments and consumer financial services industry, primarily in the Asia Pacific region. Following work in retail banking in California and a short stint in government, Richard was part of the team that started up retail banking for Citibank in Japan. Richard joined MasterCard in 1993 and headed up Operations & Systems for the Asia Pacific region. He moved to Keppel TatLee Bank in 1999 and launched a new credit card program that became profitable in just over 1 year. Mr. Phan Thanh Son, Transformation Director – Transaction Banking, Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint stock bank
After 6 years leading Treasury and Financial markets Division for Techcombank to be recognized as the top institution in the local Markets, Phan Thanh Son is now Transformation Director – Transaction Banking at Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint stock bank. Apart from this, Son also leading non-interest income improvement strategic initiatives that help Techcombank to achieve 30% of non-interest income over total operating income. He is also responsible for facilitating business of Treasury and Financial markets Division in the transition time.Mr. Son is currently also serving as the Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Bond Market Association (VBMA) where he plays an important role in leading the organization to promote the professional and effective development of local fixed income markets. Before joining Techcombank, Mr. Son was the Deputy CEO of TienPhongBank in charge of Capital Markets from 2008-2011. Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang, Secretary General, Vietnam Banks Association
Nguyen Toan Thang started his career in 1979 in State Bank of Vietnam and held different key positions in various areas such as bank credit, monetary policy, research, training, and many more. Thang was then in charge of IT and payment system in SBV for a long period of time. He was the deputy governor of State Bank of Vietnam before joining Vietnam Banks’ Association in July 2016 as secretary general.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh is the Deputy Governor, and Chairman of Science and Technology Board; Chairman of Payment Board; Head of SBV Fintech Steering Committee, State Bank of Vietnam since 2015 and responsible for Supporting the Governor in authorized areas, including: Banking system restructuring and bad debt resolution; banking system restructuring and bad debt resolution, Credit information system, deposit insurance, Financial Sector Modernization and Information Management System Project; as well as Technical assistance projects in banking supervision. Within 2011 till 2015 he was the Director General of Personnel Department, State Bank of Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long was appointed to be Deputy Manager of Retail Banking Department in August 2006. In August 2007, Mr. Long was appointed as Deputy CEO of Smartlink Card., JSC, responsible for Operation, Development and Research. Since April 2015, he has been appointed as Deputy CEO of Vietnam National Financial Switching JSC (Banknetvn) as a result of the merger completion between Banknetvn and Smartlink, responsible for Operations. Banknetvn is the organization granted the License for financial switching and electronic clearing services in Vietnam. Since February 2016, Banknetvn has changed its entity name to National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS).Holding the position of Deputy CEO of both Smartlink and Banknetvn (now called NAPAS), he gained success in projects to build up an unique banks payment network across the nation, provide e-payment services, expand benefits to card holders and effectively encourage the development of non-cash payments in Vietnam as per the instruction of the Prime Minister and the State Bank of Vietnam.

Devanshi Patani is a financial inclusion expert working with MIX.
