Mr. Chin Wei Min, Executive Director, Innovation & Digital Strategy, Securities Commission Malaysia
He leads the Innovation and Digital Strategy division, and also oversees the data management, strategy and risk departments. SC became the first country in ASEAN to introduce a regulatory framework to facilitate equity crowdfunding (ECF), with six registered operators full operational in 2016. SC also announced the regulatory framework for peer-to-peer (P2P) financing, setting out the requirements for registration for P2P platform. Wei Min was formerly the Asia Pacific Managing Director for the Capital Market industry at Accenture. With more than 20 years of industry experience in the financial services sector, particularly in the emerging technology and digital domain, Wei Min led some of the recent digital transformation initiatives at some of the financial institutions including digital blueprint for one of the largest brokers in ASEAN.
Mr. Umar Munshi, Founder & CEO, Ethis Ventures
Umar is the Founder of Ethis Ventures, an award-winning technology company based in Singapore, which builds and ventures with multiple Islamic Crowdfunding platforms. Munshi is also the CEO of EthisCrowd.com, the world’s first Real Estate Crowdfunding platform, focused mainly on Social Housing in Indonesia, and which won Best Islamic Crowdfunding Platform at the GIFA Awards 2016. Munshi is also the Chairman of the IslamicFintechAlliance.com. These groundbreaking initiatives led to his feature in the Islamica500 2016 publication of Islamic Economy influencers. Umar believes that the time has come for Muslim entrepreneurs worldwide to step up and push themselves to create and re-create value-generating startups for Muslim needs.
Mr. Amran Hassan, Head of Innovation, Maybank
Amran Hassan is the Head of Innovation at Maybank. He is responsible for raising the bar on innovation across the Maybank group. Amongst other programmes, he launched the regions first bank-run fintech accelerator program. Whilst keeping an eye on the latest developments in innovation and technology he continues to engage the eco-system to explore new ways for innovation to strive. He was formally the CIO for international operations at Maybank. Prior to Maybank, he was a Partner at Accenture, leading Technology Consulting in Malaysia and Infrastructure in South East Asia. He graduated from Imperial College, University of London.
Mr. Vipin Kalra, CEO, International Operations, BankBazaar
He has over 25 years of extensive experience in general management, sales and marketing in global payments, transactional business, digital and online retail sector, and emerging technology areas. In his most recent executive role in Visa Inc., This followed his experience being Visa’s Country Manager for Australia, where he was instrumental in not only doubling revenue over a three-year period, but also making Australia a leading global market for payment innovation. He brings significant global industry expertise and an innate understanding of Asia Pacific markets, which is vital in propelling BankBazaar’s expansion plans.
